Tuition Programmes

Students are taught in pleasant well-equipped classrooms in groups of normally no more than fourteen (fifteen in summer). They attend for three hours per day, fifteen hours per week, either in the morning or afternoon. Afternoon classes are slightly larger. There are also evening classes on two evenings per week from 6.30 - 8.30. All courses feature a balance of the essential language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking, particular attention being paid to grammar, pronunciation and the development of vocabulary. We use up to date teaching methods and materials and tutors have a range of established and contemporary textbooks from which to plan their lessons. All classes are conducted in English and only English is to be spoken on the School premises, to ensure that students develop an expertise in the language more quickly and naturally.

Conversation Classes

From 12.30 - 1.30pm Monday - Friday there is a CONVERSATION HOUR to supplement the morning classes. Students may enrol for the additional hour when they reserve their place or may pay weekly in advance. The emphasis is of course on speaking but also of importance is listening in order to communicate with other students.

One-to-One Tuition

For students requiring individual attention, we can arrange tuition to suit their requirements, during the day, in the evenings or over the weekends, either at the School or at the student's home or workplace.

Special Group Tuition

For those with special group requirements we can arrange general or Business English as well as courses for other purposes such as IELTS. If you are making arrangements for a group, please advise us of your precise requirements, eg the number of hours per day and whether you require accommodation, and we will be pleased to quote you.

Internet Access

Free Internet Access is available for students from 8.15am until 7.00pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8.15am until 8.30pm Monday and Wednesday, when evening classes are running, for sending and receiving e-mail and for surfing the World Wide Web.

Teachers

All Brudenell teachers are native speakers qualified to teach English to speakers of other languages. They have been educated to a high standard and have a very good command of the English language. They have been chosen for their friendly and caring dispositions, as well as for their qualifications, teaching ability and their awareness of methods and techniques both traditional and modern.

Library

Students may borrow books from the School, which are mainly graded readers corresponding to the students' own level of English.

Leaving Certificates

We can issue students with a leaving certificate when they have completed their studies, setting out the number of weeks attended and the level attained. Please give 24 hours notice if you require a certificate, stating any special requirements.

Student Visas, Attendance Letters and Immigration Advice

Students from some countries must obtain an attendance letter from a school in order to get a UK student visa. In such cases they must attend regularly for a minimum of 15 hours per week daytime study. You should check with the British authorities in your country to see if you need a letter. If you do, you should advise us when enrolling when we will help with your visa application by providing you with our standard enrolment document. We will send your letter on receipt of a non-returnable deposit of £100, the balance of fees to be payable before starting your course. We can also fax the letter if required. We are also able to assist students already in the UK on a student or tourist visa who wish to extend their stay and help them complete the necessary FLR(S) (Further Leave to Remain - Student) Home Office form.
