Terms & Conditions
- Students are expected to attend regularly and punctually, do homework and practise their English outside the classroom.
- Fees should be paid in full in advance or in the case of deposits, the balance relating to the number of weeks and time of class as stated on enrolment.
- The School is unable to issue bank or holiday letters etc. or allow students to use the computers until fees have been paid in full in advance and for those paying an initial deposit in order to obtain a letter of enrolment, until fees have been paid in full for the full period and time of study pledged on the enrolment form.
- Fees, deposits or places on courses are not transferable to another student.
- Fees or deposits are not normally refunded nor credit normally given to students who fail to take up places for whatever reason, including failure to obtain a visa, miss classes, withdraw from courses for whatever reason or 'change their minds' about attending.
- Students should advise the School of any intended break in their studies when they enrol as 'time added on' is not an automatic right and is at the discretion of the Principal whose decision is final.
- If students take an unscheduled break or begin their courses later than scheduled, there can be no guarantee that a place will be available in the same class and/or at the same level, and/or at the same time, and/or with the same teacher, for which there can be no compensation.
- Students may change the time of their class if a place is available. Those transferring from an afternoon to a morning class must pay a pro rata supplement; there are no refunds for those transferring from a morning to an afternoon class.
- If a student wishes to change their level, they may only do so after consultation with their teacher and on the recommendation of that teacher, whose decision is final.
- A disruptive or rude student and/or those considered to exhibit other forms of unacceptable behaviour may be required to leave the class and in extreme cases, including the involvement of third parties, will be required to leave the School without refund.
- The School reserves the right to withhold a certificate of attendance or other documentation at the end of a course in the event of a student's poor attendance, disruptive behaviour, rudeness or theft or unacceptable behaviour exhibited by anyone acting on their behalf.
- Students arriving late for a lesson may be asked to wait to be admitted if the teacher considers it appropriate, for which there can be no compensation.
- The School always had a no smoking policy and it is now illegal to smoke in public places. Any student found smoking on the premises will be asked to leave, for which there can be no compensation.
- Teachers are under contract to the School and students, or anyone acting on their behalf, must not approach them with a view to seeking private tuition for themselves or any other party.
- The School cannot guarantee to employ the same teacher for the duration of a course but any change will involve a teacher of equal status.
- The average class size is twelve in the mornings, fourteen at other times but the School reserves the right to retain a larger than average group if splitting it would be disruptive or where no additional teacher or room was available.
- In the event of short-term teacher absence, the School reserves the right to merge broadly similar groups.
- In the event of teacher absence where it is not viable to merge classes and where a supply teacher cannot be found, the School reserves the right to cancel a lesson and lengthen subsequent ones and/or take shorter breaks to compensate, and/or to offer a place in a class of the same or similar level at an alternative time pending that teacher's return.
- The School reserves the right to merge groups of a permanently low number and similar level should the number combined not exceed 14. This includes moving a class to a different time.
- In the unlikely event that Brudenell has to totally cancel a course, or part of a course without the possibility of a merger, including at a different time, the deposit, full fee or fee for the portion of the course not undertaken will be issued without deduction.
- Genuine complaints must be made in writing in the first instance to the Principal by the student or someone acting on their behalf, in which case any such complaint should be countersigned by the student. The first version only will be accepted.
