BUSINESS ENGLISH COURSES

Our next Business English course will start on Monday 15 September and will run from 12.00 – 3.00 Monday to Friday inclusive and will last for twelve weeks. It is suitable for anyone on a student visa or for someone wishing to extend their visa. To benefit fully from the course, we do suggest you enrol for the twelve weeks. However, we will consider shorter term students provided there is space in the class.

There is a part time Business English class which starts the following week, on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 6.30 – 8.30 and suits those working during the day who wish to improve their English for work purposes. In the past, some of our evening students have been sponsored by their employer.

Students should be at least of Upper Intermediate level in order to benefit from the course. There are some colleges where you can join at a lower level but we consider it best to develop your general English before specialising.

The main course book is the new edition of Market Leader, but you will also be introduced to other relevant texts as you go through the course as well as newspaper articles. You will also be encouraged to make use of online business websites.

You will be given a certificate at the end of the course based on an end of term internal test. We can also enter students for a public examination in Business English at one of our sister centres, currently the University of Westminster.

You are encouraged to attend regularly and punctually to get the most out of your Business English course.

During the course you will have wide experience in reading authentic texts, discussing current topics as they relate to the business world.

You will also hear authentic interviews with businessmen and women and be introduced to some case studies based on real issues. Of course you will also broaden your business vocabulary as well as your general vocabulary.

You will also develop important hands-on skills such as making presentations, chairing meetings, negotiating with clients and business partners, telephoning, writing formal business letters and reports, and of course sending business e-mails.
